A true doxie person
30+ years with the breed, and I grew up with them. I know how a dachshund thinks, sulks, burrows under the blanket, and negotiates for the couch.
Seniors, medication schedules, anxious pups, sensitive tummies. These aren’t exceptions here; they’re who I do best with. See how I care for them →
30+ years with the breed, and I grew up with them. I know how a dachshund thinks, sulks, burrows under the blanket, and negotiates for the couch.
Doxies are my specialty, but every calm, well behaved small or medium dog is welcome here. No big or rowdy dogs, so your pup actually unwinds instead of bracing for chaos.
I work from home with a large fenced back yard and a doggy door to the deck. Your dog gets the run of a real house, not a crate, with daily photo and video updates if you’d like them.
Seniors, anxious pups, dogs on a medication schedule. These are exactly the dogs I’m built for. I’ve raised my own dachshunds from puppies into their silvery years, said goodbye to beloved elders, and I currently care for a 16-year-old regular named Elvis. Old, shy, or particular is never a problem here. It’s usually the whole point.
Gray muzzles get the softest spots in the house. Extra potty trips, padded ramps instead of jumps, warm bedding, slower walks, and patience for stiff mornings, fading eyes and ears, and the odd accident. No judgment, ever.
Pills, drops, insulin, joint supplements, or a strict feeding-and-meds schedule. I set alarms and follow your instructions to the minute. Comfortable hiding meds in food, and happy to text you a photo each time a dose is given.
Nervous, slow-to-warm, or a little anxious? A calm house with only a few dogs is the whole advantage. We go at your dog’s pace, with no forced introductions, quiet retreat spots, and small wins until they decide the couch is theirs.
Prescription food, raw, home-cooked, allergies, or a touchy stomach. I feed exactly what you send, on your schedule, kept separate from the other dogs so there’s no swapping bowls or sneaky snacking.
Dogs who can’t bear to be apart stay together here: same bed, same routine, same room. A whole little family from one household is welcome, up to four, with a capped nightly rate so the crew travels together.
Never left your dog before? We start with a free meet & greet so everyone’s comfortable, then I send daily photos and videos so you can actually relax while you’re away. No crates, no crowd, just a calm house and a familiar face.
Have a dog with needs not listed here? Tell me about them in your inquiry. Most of the time it’s no trouble at all, and I’ll always be honest if it isn’t the right fit.

Not a kennel, not a crate. A calm, lived-in home with comfy spots, a doggy door to the deck, and room to just be a dog.
See daily photos on InstagramMy first dachshund came home in the early ’90s and stayed for seventeen years. Doxies have been my family’s dog ever since, and I’ve raised my own from wriggling puppies into their silvery senior years.
I know their stubborn streak, their love of a warm blanket, and yes, their backs. Trouble can happen to any dachshund, so every dog here gets gentle, careful handling, with no leaping off the high furniture on my watch. Nothing to fear. Just someone who pays attention.
He sent a photo every single day, and our Frankie came home calmer than when he left. The only person we trust with him.
Dachshunds and doxie mixes are my specialty, but other calm, well behaved small and medium dogs (roughly 40 lbs and under) are absolutely welcome, up to four from one family. What I can’t take are large or rowdy dogs, or dogs that aren’t house trained or tend to be reactive, so the home stays calm for everyone.
Over thirty years, several of my own, from puppyhood through their senior years. I know the burrowing, the stubbornness, the food opinions, and the body language that tells me a dog is happy or needs a quiet minute.
Yes. Current rabies, distemper (DHPP), and bordetella. Just send records before the stay; it protects every dog in the house, yours included.
Gladly. They’re some of my favorite guests. I give meds on schedule down to the minute, handle insulin, drops, and supplements, and I’m gentle and patient with elderly dogs who need extra potty breaks, ramps, and a little grace on stiff mornings. I care for a 16-year-old regular myself, so senior life is familiar territory. Just walk me through your dog’s routine and I’ll follow it exactly.
More than okay. A quiet home with only a few dogs is exactly where nervous pups do best. I never force introductions; we go at your dog’s pace, with calm retreat spots and small wins until they settle in. The free meet & greet helps us see how your dog feels before anything’s booked.
It’s the question every doxie owner asks. IVDD can affect any dachshund, so I keep things gentle on their backs: no leaping off tall furniture, supported lifting, ramps where they help, and calm play. No scare tactics, just sensible, attentive care.
Yes. I work from home, so the dogs have company through the day. If I head out for errands or dinner now and then, it’s never for long, and your dog stays comfortable in the house with the run of their favorite spots, never shut in a crate.
Plenty. A doggy door opens from the house to the back deck and the fenced back yard, so dogs can potty, sunbathe on the deck, and explore at their own pace. To be clear, they’re never outside unsupervised, doggy door or not.
Absolutely. Weekly and monthly rates make extended trips easy, and your dog settles into a real routine. Ask me about snowbird and relocation stays.
Yes. $25 each way within the Canton area, handy when your schedule’s tight before a trip.
No deposit, and you only pay after the stay. Life happens, so cancellations are free with 48 hours’ notice (7 days for holidays and peak weeks). Inside that window, a late-cancellation fee of one night’s rate applies (two nights’ for holidays), since I keep my numbers small and a late cancel usually means I’ve turned another family away. It’s all spelled out plainly in the boarding agreement you sign when we start.
Here’s exactly how it works and what I’ll need, so you can plan ahead with zero guesswork. The full details live in a short boarding agreement you complete online before the first stay.
Pay after the stay, never a deposit up front. Once your dog heads home you’ll get a simple invoice, payable by Venmo, Cash App, Apple Pay, or credit/debit card (handled securely through Stripe). Whatever’s easiest for you.
Bring your dog’s own food, pre-portioned if you can, plus any medications. Then add just one comfort item: a favorite toy, blanket, or bed really helps an anxious dog settle in. No need to pack the whole toy box; I’ve got beds, bowls, ramps, and burrow blankets here.
Before the first stay I’ll gather your dog’s feeding routine (food, amount, and how often), medication instructions, vaccination records, your vet, and an emergency contact in case I can’t reach you. Nothing left to chance.
Dachshunds are my specialty, but well behaved small and medium dogs are always welcome. Send a few details and I’ll get back to you, usually the same day. Prefer to talk it through first?
